Blended and hybrid learning in Welsh further education colleges
Jisc is working in partnership with the Welsh Government to drive forward Digital 2030, which aims to see learning providers in Wales harness the potential of digital technology to support sustainable and resilient approaches to delivery.
To support this, Jisc carried out a study to explore the use of hybrid and blended delivery approaches in the further education (FE) sector in Wales. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated Welsh FE colleges’ journeys into hybrid and blended learning delivery so we wanted to better understand how these have since evolved and what colleges’ approaches are going forward.
The report and accompanying six thematic case studies offer insights and examples around all four key national priorities outlined in the Welsh Government’s call to action for FE institutions in December 2022:
- Work collaboratively to widen access to learning opportunities
- Develop learners’ and staff digital capabilities and confidence for learning, life and work
- Maximise the potential of technology to empower, enthuse and inspire learners
- Embed agile, resilient and sustainable approaches to delivery
They also outline success factors, challenges, potential solutions, future developments and recommendations for hybrid and blended learning delivery.
