Data Matters 2025: the key to effective data
A new one-day conference bringing data experts and strategic leads in UK tertiary education together to focus on the value of data to improve student success.
In an increasingly sophisticated data-led world, the UK tertiary education sector needs to build data capacity and expertise, all while facing increasing financial pressures. Launching today is a new event - Data Matters 2025 – for leaders in tertiary education to tackle these issues. It will be held on 23 January 2025 at The Lowry, Salford Quays, and will focus on cost-effective data solutions to improve student outcomes.
The event includes talks on data-informed approaches to support students, international student mobility, using data to build a ‘smart campus’ as well as other sessions focused on data strategy, data maturity and the value of data to drive innovation.
Speakers include Professor Edward Peck, vice-chancellor and president of Nottingham Trent University and HE student support champion and Janet Ilieva, founder and director at Education Insight as well as leading experts from universities, colleges and Jisc. Heidi Fraser-Krauss, chief executive of Jisc, will chair the event.
Heidi Fraser-Krauss, chief executive of Jisc, said:
“Better data can lead to better outcomes in education and research. The sector faces lots of challenges and this new in-person conference from Jisc offers data leaders the chance to discuss cost-effective solutions and learn from each other.”
Professor Edward Peck, Nottingham Trent University vice-chancellor & Higher Education student support champion, said:
“Effective data is critical for universities and colleges to support students in their studies. As data becomes more sophisticated and financial pressures continue, it is important to work together as a sector to build data capability and best practice to help both students and providers thrive. Data Matters 2025 opens up a space for the sector to do that and I look forward to being part of it.”
