Our annual sustainability report outlines our aims, impact and emissions for 2023/24.

As a sector body, we work for the benefit of our members and customers to make a positive global impact across education and research. While our charitable objects are primarily in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals of quality education (SDG 4) and industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), our operations touch on many more including:

  • Climate action (SDG 13)
  • Partnerships for the goals (SDG 17)
  • Good health and wellbeing (SDG 3)
  • Gender equality (SDG 5)
  • Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
  • Reduced inequalities (SDG 10)
  • Responsible production and consumption (SDG 12)

Our sustainability impact at a glance

  • 689 volunteering days taken by Jisc employees
  • 1,315 pieces of IT kit recycled
  • 14,481kwh of solar energy generated from August 2023 to July 2024
  • 14.5% reduction in natural gas and electricity usage in Portwall Lane office
  • 83% of business travel journeys completed by rail
  • 59% of commuting done by public transport or active travel
  • 79% of staff believe Jisc's commitment to social responsibility is genuine*
