My role is to provide advice, guidance, training and consultancy in the area of academic research.
My background is in academic research and research management.
I spent ten years in frontline research in the fields of zoology and genetics. After this, I spent 13 years in university management, specialising in research management. As a manager, I have worked at three different universities, based within both individual academic departments and the central research office.
My experience includes: preparing for, and analysing the outcome of, the last three research assessment exercises; support for research grants and contracts (both pre- and post-award), design and use of research information management systems (both 'in house' and commercial); and, supporting the impact agenda, as it relates to Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Research Councils UK (RCUK) funding.
