About

What is Equipment data?

The Jisc Equipment Data service harvests and aggregates a range of university and research facility equipment catalogues. The service enables searching across all published UK research equipment databases through one aggregation portal allowing greater accessibility with the aim of improving efficiency and stimulating greater collaboration in the sector.

Jisc released an upgrade to the service in 2023, improving basic functionality and we are now in the process of gathering requirements for future functionality, working towards optimising the research infrastructure assets space.

Jisc has tasked Research Consulting to conduct interviews with stakeholders to map existing workflows for data capture and harvesting. This work will look at where the information is held and what is the best mechanism to get the data into the equipment data service.

The workshop will review the outcomes of these interviews, test assumptions & findings and ideally work towards mapping out optimum workflows to support institutions and to improve data quality and harvesting.

Objectives of this webinar:

  • Provide an overview of the institutional systems, workflows and data landscape with regards to equipment asset registers and to outline and map typical current workflows.
  • Review gaps and pain points.
  • Input ideas to improve and optimise workflows and data capture.

Who should attend

  • Anyone who is involved in research infrastructure asset management from research managers to research technicians.
  • Staff who maintain and update procurement information about research equipment and facilities.
