Lyn Bender

Senior account manager

Role

As a senior account manager I ensure that our members experience a strong and personalised relationship with Jisc, enabling them to have ready access to our full range of products, services and support, whether inclusive as part of membership or in addition to any subscription package.

I champion our members' needs within Jisc, challenging with respect to members’ requirements so that member 'voice' shapes Jisc's operational and strategic priorities.

Additionally, as a senior account manager I lead a team of account managers in England.

Background

I'm an accomplished and skilled educationalist with over 20 years’ experience in education and training. Cornwall based, I am one of the original national information and learning technology (ILT) champions and led a team of enthusiasts in the development and embedding of new learning technologies at a time when e-learning was just emerging.

I'm a qualified project manager and online learning facilitator with particular interests in change management, digital literacy and virtual learning environments. In 2003 I transferred my skills to Jisc in order to work closely with the further education and skills sector focusing on strategic support for the use and integration of technology. Whilst studying for my degree in education and training, my research focused on specialist areas of policy and strategy, for which I'm well known and highly regarded.

I am also a qualified riding instructor and when I'm not working, much of my time is spent with my talented Friesian mare imported from the Netherlands. I'm often out competing regionally and nationally in the show ring and dressage arena and an invigorating gallop across the beach is by far the best stress buster at the end of a busy week!
