Our service enables you to purchase equipment including handsets, mobiles, circuits and SIP trunks, from pre-qualified suppliers who are directly connected to the Janet Network for telephony.
You may wish to move all or some of your voice traffic from traditional telephone connections (ISDN) onto your IP network. This process can cut your organisation's costs by up to 70%.
Our stringent processes comply with EU procurement rules so you can also rest assured that the suppliers chosen will provide you with the best value for money and quality of service.
By purchasing through our service, you can also access free, impartial advice and guidance on all aspects of voice technologies, focusing on voice over IP (VoIP) and IT telephony.
To take advantage of the service, simply identify your telephony requirements then contact the service desk (0300 300 2212 or email firstname.lastname@example.org) to express your interest and ask any questions.
Once you are willing to proceed, you can start the procurement process by completing an invitation to tender. Any bids are assessed to ensure requirements are met before entering a mini-competition to determine the winning tender.
To make things even easier, the telephony team can advise you on how to put your tender together.
Pay for what you need By verifying your specific telephony requirements, we ensure that only valid suppliers bid for your business, keeping your costs to a minimum
Save purchasing time We pre-qualify the suppliers to ensure they meet your requirements, and free up your staff time in the process. Depending on the equipment or service being purchased, your procurement could be completed in less than four weeks

Google Apps for Education amendments to the standard agreement
Cloud and data centre framework
Telephony purchasing service
Data archiving framework
File Sync and Share purchasing service
Microsoft and Google Products: Jisc reviewed the contractual documents for Google Apps for Education and for Microsoft Office 365 and negotiated exclusive amendments to their respective terms and conditions.
In addition to these negotiated amendments, Jisc has produced a guidance note to accompany the Google Apps for Education Agreement, which highlights points for consideration by organisations when undertaking their assessment of whether to procure Apps for Education. The guidance note will be supplied as part of the reference pack.
Financial X-Ray: The Financial X-ray service helps cost IT services in research and education organisations, enhancing the work carried out by others in the sector. Organisations will be able to use this as a focal point for future work on the costing of IT services to derive ongoing benefits.
Cloud and data centre framework: Jisc procured this framework agreement in response to the needs of the community for data centre facilities and commercial cloud services. Eight suppliers have been selected and equally ranked on the framework. Organisations can select a supplier by running a mini-competition against its specific requirement with the selected suppliers.
Telephony purchasing service: The service enables organisations to purchase telephony services from suppliers that have been approved to join the telephony purchasing service. The service includes IP based SIP trunks over the organisation’s Janet connections and zero rated call costs within the telephony package that they purchase.
Data archiving framework: The service enables organisations to purchase highly secure, easy-to-use and cost-effective long-term storage for their data. This is a single-supplier framework with Arkivum as the chosen supplier.
File Sync and Share purchasing service: The service enables organisations to purchase file sync and share services from suppliers who have been approved to join the File Sync and Share purchasing service. The services will be delivered over a direct connection to Janet, with options for user managed encryption and integrated federated access etc.
You are responsible for responding to supplier questions and providing any information requested.
You must ensure they accept the terms of the cloud service supplier’s agreement and its application to their organisation, as the contract is between you and the supplier and you are responsible for compliance with legal obligations.
