As a technologist or educational leader, you’re increasingly focused on making students’ digital experience as engaging as it can be – not just to meet statutory duties, but to improve your reputation and satisfy changing demands.
But to make that happen, you know staff and managers need to develop their own digital capabilities – and that can be a challenge.
While many organisations have high levels of knowledge and skills in some areas, there may also be capability gaps.
Our service helps you improve your capabilities across your organisation – to help create the consistent digital experience your learners expect.
How our consultancy service benefits you
Our service helps you identify where your digital capabilities lie – so you can assess your current position and make plans to improve.
That way, you can:
Meet student needs more consistently
By empowering your staff, you can help create a consistent digital experience in all areas of students’ interaction with you – from teaching, learning and assessment to back-office support.
That way, you can help put the learner at the centre of your thinking – increasing learner independence, developing inclusive practice, and improving students’ digital skills – which not only helps you meet official agendas, but increases student satisfaction and improves your reputation.
Get a better return on investment
When you’re investing money in digital technologies, you want to exploit them to their full potential – but you can only do that if staff have the digital capability to use them.
In leadership teams, enhancing digital capability can be even more critical – because it helps you devote the right balance of resources to digital, avoiding wasted expenditure and ensuring your investment is in line with your strategy. Ultimately, this also helps increase return on investment.
Improve practice across the whole organisation
Our service doesn’t only address the capabilities of leaders and curriculum staff. We also focus on a range of roles such as learner support, library services, HR, finance, marketing and others – to make the student experience as consistent as it can be.
How the service works
This consultancy service is divided into two parts: the practical advice and support which you are entitled to as an inclusive benefit of your Jisc membership; and extra, paid-for bespoke support for those who wish to go further.
Included in your membership
As part of your Jisc membership, we’ll have initial conversations with you to establish your digital capability needs – using online surveys where appropriate. As a result of this, we’ll write a short report with a list of recommendations – and signpost you to key Jisc resources such as our digital capability framework.
For organisations who need it, we can offer a range of paid-for services over and above your membership – such as training, facilitated workshops, and in-depth bespoke consultancy.
